Warnambool’s Jamie Veal added the World Series Sprintcar Championship trophy to his mounting list of achievements but it was Steven Lines who continued his barnstorming back end form to secure his 3rd WSS main event win for the season.
The nine times WSS Champ Brooke Tatnell started the final night with the smallest margin, 8 started points ahead of Veal. Tatnell’s night could not have started worse when he missed gaining qualifying points when he timed in at 10th.
After the heats had been decided Tatnell found himself starting on the outside of row five and despite an early benefit when pole sitter Dillon headed infield with engine problems moving both Veal and Tatnell forward for the restart.
The task for Tatnell was no easier. If he was to gain his 10th crown he would to finish ahead of Veal, it was just that simple.

Veal raced conservatively until lap 10 when he started his move first passing Kendrick into fourth It would be another 8 laps before Veal found second behind Lines .For 18 laps Tatnell made little progress and as he continued his chances of a tenth Title started to evaporate before his eyes .Tatnell finished in 8th position and second in the overall Championship 66 points behind Veal but 22 ahead of Lines.

The final podium for the 2015/16 WSS was Steven Lines 1st,Jamie Veal second,Kyle Hirst 3rd.

Steven Lines must be thinking if only he had been just that little more consistent in the early part of the series, but the three times winner this series went away with the inaugural Wormal Western Swing Trophy.

The race between Tatnell and Veal for the Championship has been dazzling but for me the back end of this series has all been about the scintillation form of Steven Lines and his Halls Motorsports Team.

Jamie Veal the World Series Champion for 2015/16 brilliantly consistent all series and a most worthy Champion.
