Matching his wing number #15 to his race wins was the way Schatz answered Pittman’s challenge from River City.when he posting his 15th win for the season . Donny Schatz did not disappoint his many local fans at Nodak Speedway,
The Gerdu Magic City Showdown presented by the Schatz Truck Stop was tailored made for a Schatz victory.
Schatz win number 15 for the year at Nadak
Early on in the 35 lap race it looked like the Brownsburg Bullet Joey Saldana might well secure his 6th tour win for 2014 . Saldana started on pole with Kraig Kinser alongside in the 11K. Green for go ! and the #71 Yellow bullet grabbed the lead and controlled the race for the first 26 laps.
Schatz started out of position three and was always going to menace Saldana. The yellow cautions and a rain delay did little to stop the Schatz power house and with the number 15 blazing atop of the wing the North Dakota racer took the race lead from Saldana on lap 27 and put the eight remaining laps in book to quickly to secure his 15th win
The Nodak win increased his lead over Daryn Pittman to 154 points and the form of Schatz makes it hard to see , even with 26 shows and lots of laps remaining just how Pittman can stop loosing points to Schatz .
Last season it was Pittman’s consistency that proved the difference, so far in 2014 the roles have been reversed
Paul McMahan upstaged both Schatz and Saldana with his 9th quick time for the year. David Gravel continues to impress in the Roth’s Motorsports car with another podium finish.
