Australian Speedcar Grand Prix-Controversy Why

Australian Speedcar Grand Prix Controversy –WHY

January 3 down the South Coast of NSW at the beautiful Nowra Speedway nestled in the Schoalhaven area presented him 64th running of one of our most famous Speedcar races, the AGP. The race would end in controversy and I ask why?

The result on the night has caused many scribes, better qualified than me to express their view that in many ways take away the achievement of Mark Brown breaking the legendary Ray Revell’s long standing record of 5 AGP wins.
The events of the night that forced the race to be stopped short of the 30 laps starts and finishes with the stupid local Government regulation imposed on the Speedway with a time limit .

Organizer knowing the restrictions place on them by the regulations should have had a plan that would have ensure the race stepped in history, a race won by many of the all time greats could have run its full distance.

The time restriction is well established and all race teams, owner, drivers and fans would have known the rules as in different forms affect Speedways right across the country.

When the race was stopped prematurely Mark Brown was in the lead he could do no more than that and to suggest that the race should be rerun in nothing short of ridicules. How many races have been called due to rain, accidents they are part of the challenges of speedway racing. Mark Brown deserves his 6th win to applaud for the achievement.

All race fans would like to see all races no matter the status of the event run their full distance but it appears that the environmentalist and tree hugger will not be happy until they hamstring Speedway with all these outrageous time and noise restraints and limitations .Stand on the freeway next to Valvoline Speedway in Sydney when the Speedway is not racing, road and traffic noise is LOUD with never a hint of a restriction. My apartment in Parramatta the road noise is far louder and more irritation that any Speedway event I have ever visited, go figure.

The Nowra Speedway is not in a built up area and could not possibly cause any inconvenience to anybody so why a time restriction.

The race should not be rerun, congratulations to Mark Brown on achieving a record 6th win in the Australian Speedcar Grand Prix.
