Clauson with Chevy Performance and Tony Stewart Racing providing the fire power will be planning to increase his tender lead of 2 points over the experienced Darland and the Phillips Motorsports – Racer’s Advantage #71P DRC/Foxco

Bryan Clauson set the pace for other to chase with his fast time during qualifying in his Tony Stewart/Curb-Agajanian Racing – Chevy Performance #20 Beast/Kistle .In the build up to the main event Darland continued to cover every move by Clauson and was rewarded with a front row start alongside Chase Stockon for the 30 lap Main event and the $10,000 winners  purse.

The starter gave the green and immediately Stockon and Darland raced at a frantic pace with bold runs for the lead fired off by each driver.

Stockon would hold the lead for the first 7 laps while Darland would command the point from lap 8 to 16 before Stockon would once again resume the race lead.

Starting from position six Clauson was steady and he gradually made valuable ground first passing Darland at the halfway mark. Clauson’s first mission to place Darland behind was working perfectly as he began his charge after Stockon.

The leading trio started to come across traffic and Clauson went to the lead from Stockon and from that point on controlled the race to the flag. Darland sitting safely in third drove a steady race to the flag concerned to limited the point loss to Clauson.

The race continued  stoppage free and Stockon unable to pressure Clauson trailed the number 20 Chevy across the line for a welcome second place. Darland was third and Clauson had managed to increase his lead over Darland  from 2  to 13 points

 Driver quote

Bryan Clauson“Starting sixth, I was able to search around a little and our car was pretty phenomenal tonight. We were a little snug up top, so I had to cheat off of it a little and actually found a line I liked better down a little lower. Our car was really good right through the middle the way it came in there. We just haven’t gotten to race that much together, so now that we’re getting to go back to some places, (crew chief) Bob (East) is just getting the cars better and better,” Clauson said.

Stockon finished a strong second in the Superior Tank & Trailer – Crescent Electric Supply #32 DRC/Fisher.

Chase Stockon “The way our luck has been lately, we were just glad to finish, and to finish second to the 20 right now is a good night. We were fast the first half of the race, but I guess we were just hitting traffic wrong and he got by us. The way it’s been here lately, it’s been around the top, so I decided to stay up there until somebody showed me a nose. I moved down some after battling with Dave, but Bryan had already tracked us down by then,” Stockon said.

Darland lost a lot of ground to the leaders in the closing stretch but held on for third in the Phillips Motorsports – Racer’s Advantage #71P DRC/Foxco.

Dave Darland “When the bottom and middle got faster than the top, it became a struggle for us. We were still good, but it got slick up to the cushion which was just bigger and more solid, so I had to move off of it in three and four. I bicycled a couple times, and were happy to run third,” Darland said.

Kevin Thomas, Jr. came on strong in the final laps to finish fourth in the Mike Dutcher/RW/Tri-Star Motorsports – Black Jack Oil Company #17RW Maxim/Fisher, and Justin Grant rounded out the top-five in the Bill Elson #27A Maxim/Claxton.
