Last night at Sydney’s Valvoline Raceway Jamie Veal chased down an eager field of the best local and interstate Sprintcar drivers to add the iinargual Ultimate Sprintcar Chase Title to his already impressive list of achievement this season.

Before a massively excited crowd the USC Chase started out of character for the SW Engineering Team when Veal’s V35 failed to finish his heat due to tyre problems. With such a massive entry list this Chase was now suddenly made very difficult for the Warnambool racer.

Forced to work from the B main to get a start in the Chase final Veal made no mistake leading from his front row start to a convincing win over Kelly Linigen, Grant Tunks.Veal would start the 35 lap final from P10 alongside his mate and one of his main Chase rivals James McFadden .  Robbie Farr sitting just behind veal in the Chase points would start P3, a massive advantage as the 24 car field headed to the green.

35 laps ahead, $10,000 to the race winner and the race to the first corner and lead vital. Troy little wins the first corner from pole sitter Sam Walsh. Ten laps in the book and Walsh spins while leading .The restart was won by Robbie Farr forcing early leader little into second.

Farr had been fast all night but soon came under attack from James Thompson and with 7 laps left Thompson’s hard work resulted in the pass for the race lead .Thompson run into the lead was not unexpected as he had been Farr’s shadow and closed fast.

Back in the field Veal was moving forward with the leader within striking distance. With Chase on Veal started to edge closer to Thompson and with three laps left the Championship pass was executed and Veal ‘s steady and calculated drive was headed to victory lane and the prestige of being crowed the very first  Ultimate Sprintcar Champion. The Final was worth $10,000 plus the overall Chase Title another $30,000 plus a magnificent trophy.

The measure of a Champion can be best judged on how they recover from adversity and their ability to read the conditions they face. Jamie Veal has won from the front and from deep in the field, the complete professional.

What a season the Warnambool SW Engineering V35 has had in Veal’s hands.World Series Sprintcar Champion, Grand Annual Classic Winner and the Geelong Harley Davison Easter Trail plus Feature wins at tracks across the Country.
