Outlaws on the move Florida to Texas.

With the first three events of the 2017 calendar already in the books the World of Outlaw Sprintcar teams haul their way up from Florida to the bad lands of Texas for two shows .The first at the Lone Star Speedway Kilgore and then onto the Gator Motorplex at Willis.

The defending Outlaw Champion Donny Schatz has two wins from the three starts and sits on top of the points from Chad Kemenah and Jason Johnson, Kerry Madsen and Brad Sweet.

Night one in Texas will be the Lone star Speedway a high banked 1/3 mile Clay oval and the following night at the Bullring at the Gator Motorplex. The Gator Motorplex is a ¼ Mile high banked with about the widest straight-a-ways the Outlaws encounter. The straight has been widened from 35 feet to 50 feet and the corners from 60 to 70 feet so expect plenty of aggressive passes. Jason Johnson goes into the Gator show having won there at his last two starts. Most of the contracted Outlaws will be making their first appearance at the bullring.

The 2017 season promises to be one of the most competitive in years and although Schatz has started more strongly than previous years the changed Team line ups are sure to spark some intense competition .New cars and Teams for Kerry Madsen and Joey Saldana has had some mixed results.Kerry Madsen already has put the Go Muddy unit in victory lane while Saldana has had a scare or two down in Florida.

Madsen starts the Big Game with Big Game Motorsports

Kerry Madsen’s 2017 US Campaign kicks off this week end down Florida way at Bubba Raceway Park where he will take command of the Big Game Motorsports/Go Muddy #2 and takes up the challenge in the Arctic Cat All Stars Circuit of Champions.

New Team, New Livery and colors Madsen is perfectly placed to continue his stunning Bubba Raceway form .Madsen has won his last four start at the Florida track in 2015.Comming off a fabulous summer racing down under with back to back wins against many of the best includes Americans in the recent National Open plus the defense of his Australian Sprintcar Title at Sydney’s Valvoline Raceway.

During an interview with Shawn Miller’s Inside promotions Madsen had this to say: “For me it’s about getting out there and getting to know each other and trying to get that line of communication”, he said.”We have a lot to do in a short amount of time. The real part of the season is coming up pretty quick. Just try to get that ground base or a level of where we can get a good baseline for (crew chief) Guy Forbrook and I is the main thing”

Madsen continued “I’ve always come in straight off the Australian season so that helps” he said.”You’ve been racing for a bit so you’re up to speed. Turns one and two are sweeping and turns three and four are like the top of an egg. I guess my success has been in being able to adapt to the unique challenges of the track “

It was Boom, Boom for the Madsen Bros at Valvoline Raceway

It was a case of double boom in the 55^th running of the Australian Sprintcar Championship at Sydney’s Valvoline Raceway when Kerry Madsen successfully defended his Australian Championship and younger brother Ian raced his Watson’s Transport backed car into second ahead of Robbie Farr and Brooke Tatnell. Young Jordyn Brazier completed the top 5 and would go home well satisfied with his Championship performance.

Madsen and McFadden were the two top points scorers and had the honor of starting on the from row of the 24 car field for the 40 Lap Championship decided. In the build up to the final race there was lots of activity on the twitter feeds from the Madsen fans boldly predicting a win for Kerry. Clearly they were on the money.

By lap seven the defending Champion was already leading from younger brother Ian with McFadden sitting in third. By lap 22 McFadden’s chances had slowly diminished courtesy of a deflating left front tire that had been damaged during his earlier battle for the race lead and would force his retirement from the race.

In front a huge crowd the Madsen brothers will go down in the Sprintcar history as the first brothers to run the quinella at the Australian Sprintcar Championship..Sadly as was the case last year the A1 might not be seen on Australian Speedways until Kerry Madsen returns home late 2017.With back to wins in the National Open and now the Aussie Title his confidence will be high as he plans for his return to the US and his debut in the Big Game Go Muddy back Team. Kerry will have his first race in the seat of the new Team car in Florida this February.

It’s McFadden, Monte and Milwaukee’s night at Valvoline Raceway

The spanking recent form of James McFadden and his Monte Motorsports backed Milwaukee Tools W17 continues with a powerful win on night two of the 55^th Australian Sprintcar Championship at Sydney’s Valvoline Raceway.

The Team has brought their Classic winning form up the highway and onto the clay at Valvoline Raceway. Starting on the front row after impressive heat form the W17 never looked backed from his front row starting position.

Never headed throughout the 30 lap journey and never seriously challenged he crossed ahead a late arriving Ian Madsen who was fortunate to take advantage of a Robbie Farr cushion banging exercise and slip through for second. Robbie Farr finished in third.

The stage is now set for a thrilling Championship night .The road to the Title still has a long way to go and the chance have your name engraved on the Championship Trophy for 55^thtime will be all the motivation required.

Kerry Madsen leads the points 104 into the Championship night by 1 point from James McFadden, then Farr and Brazier on 101, Tatnell and Ian Madsen 97, Veal 96, McHugh and Delamont on 95 and Ferguson on 94.

This is one race you can’t afford to miss, who will be the 55th Australian Sprintcar Champion ?

Kerry Madsen takes first step in retaining the A1 Plate

Kerry Madsen takes first step in retaining his AU1 Plate with win in the opening night of the 55^th Australian Sprintcar Championship last night at Sydney’s Valvoline Raceway from Warren Ferguson and Jamie Veal

Along the way Madsen gathered a solid haul points to sit on top of the standing at the end of night from Jordyn Brazier and Jamie Veal.

With back to back wins in the National Sprintcar Open against the Americans Madsen is perfectly primed to add a fourth Australian Sprintcar Championship to his impressive list of achievements .

It was a stunning first half performance from young Brazier leading from a well earned pole before fading late in the race to finish fourth. The other stunner was Warren Ferguson running out of position 16 to finish in second position behind Madsen.Warren Ferguson is a much under rated driver,super drive by the #32N

A number of fancied runners had problems, Former dual Aussie Champ Murcott and Shaun Dobson came together and both were forced to retire. Steven Lines was also a DNF

Night two of the Championship gets underway tonight with James McFadden, Brooke Tatnell and Robbie Farr all looking to add another Australian Championship to their resumes. Ian Madsen will be out to emulate big brother but there will be plenty of others with a night two win clearly on their minds.

McFadden adds Classic win to collection.

James McFadden and his Monte Motorsports Team climbed the winner’s podium after sweeping the 45^th Lucas Oils Classic at Warnambool’s Premier Speedway last week end .

Over the past couple of seasons McFadden has had his share of unlucky breaks on the track both here and in his US campaigns. Over the course of the weekend at Warnambool McFadden made the most being in the right place at the right time .The problems from past Classic’s were avoided.

The biggest advantage possible was his when he topped the points in his Milwaukee Tools Monte Motorsports W17 to gain the pole over Brooke Tatnell for the start of the Final 40 lap Classic A Main

Once they Started gave them the green McFadden immediately stamped his authority on the race outgunning Tatnell and Kerry Madsen to take the race lead.

The second half of the 40 Lap final was full of incidents, a number of cautions and two red flag stoppages.As the race moved into the final stages Kerry Madsen started to fade and local Warnambool drive Darren Mollenoyux started to apply pressure on Tatnell for the runner ups position. A late race pass gave the spot to Mollenoyux with Tatnell finishing the 45^th Classic in third.

McFadden had been perfectly dialed in all weekend and his maiden Classic win and the $30,000 purse could not gone to a more deserving Champion .Beside McFadden great win special mention must go to Warnambools own Darren Mollenoyux for an amazing weekend particular In a field stacked with 11 US professionals.

First American home was Brad Sweet in fourth position, Kerry Madsen 5^th, Luke Dillon 6^th, Kyle Hirst USA 7^th, and Ian Madsen 8th, Steven Lines 9th and David Murcott in 10th.

The Classic once again proved that our Australian Sprintcar drivers and teams can match and beat regularly the best in the World .One,Two Three at the Classic it does not get better than that!

So another Lucas Oils Classic is done and the Australians now prepare for the Australian Sprintcar Championship at Sydney’s Valvoline Raceway over three days starting Australia Day Thursday January 26 and running through to Saturday January 28^th.Kerry Madsen is the defending Champion.

Krikke it’s Tatnell night one of the Classic

Brooke Tatnell and Krikke Motorsports take first night win at the 45th running of the Lucas Oils Grand Annual Classic at Premier Speedway. Away from the winners circle for while Tatnell put his Krikke racecar on the front row of the grid with World of Outlaws Star Brad Sweet.

Tatnell took the W2 into the early race lead and held the point until Sweet finally reached and passed the W2 on lap 14 of the 30 lap A Main. Some unfortunate luck has followed the team in 2016/17 but tonight the luck changed as Sweet’s car started to slow and Tatnell was able to regain the race lead .Luck plays such an important part in any sport and tonight at Warnambool it was on Tatnell’s side for a change .Sweet was able to maintain his second position to the flag as both Kerry M and Madsen and local Grant Anderson closed .in..Kyle Hirst and Carson Macedo followed Anderson across the stripe.

With most attention focused on the top Aussies and the visiting Americans it was pleasing to see young Brayden Willington in his ACT#89 take a heat win and make the B Main. The Goulburn youngster is coming to grips with the Sprintcar after his recent move from the Speedcar.

JOHNSON TAKES CENTRE STAGE ON DRAMATIC NIGHT

“American superstar Jason Johnson put his World Series Sprintcars Speedweek back on track with an assured victory at Avalon Raceway on December 30. For others it was a night of missed opportunities, with series points leaders James McFadden and Jamie Veal both striking trouble in a dramatic A-Main. This has led to a tightening race in both the overall series and Speedweek standings, with McFadden clinging on to the lead in both points chases.

For the first time in eight rounds the 30th anniversary tour had a classic summer’s day to entice the crowds along, and the Victoria public responded with a bumper attendance. They were treated to the biggest field that Speedweek has seen this summer, with 42 cars rolling out for qualifying in the two-flight system.

Jason Johnson (11.875 seconds) and V36 Tim Van Ginnekin (12.204 seconds) set the fastest times in each pool, but it was V70 John Vogels who topped the standings after qualifying. He beat Johnson by a point, with both having to stand aside for James McFadden in the Gold Shootout who progressed up from seventh overall to pole position.

Hard luck story of the night, week and series has got to be Andrew Wright, with the plucky New South Welshman rolling again in the heats. Remarkably, his crew got the car ready for his last placed start in the B-Main and Wright managed to complete the race.

After Grand Marshall and prominent journo Dennis Newlyn had given the 4-wide signal, it was time for an epic 35-lap World Series A-Main to unfold. Defending series champion Jamie Veal started from Grid 20 after a rush through the B-Main field to the final transfer position, with Brooke Tatnell on 15 and Luke Dillon 14. After two laps Tatnell had moved to tenth, with Veal 15th. McFadden led for the first nine laps until Johnson passed him, with the W17 Monte Motorsport pilot returning the favour just over 10 laps later.

Twenty laps and Veal was up to sixth, having passed Tatnell and setting his sights even further. Veal needed to, as McFadden was skipping away with five laps to run, only to spin himself as he attempted to lap a car in turn 4. The caution lights were on, and McFadden was sent to the rear to the gasps of the packed spectator embankment. Just to add to the drama Jamie Veal pulled infield during the stoppage with a collapsed front end, being eventually credited with 18th place.

Back at the pointy end Jason Johnson held off Steve Lines for the final five laps, taking an emotional chequered flag for his 25th World Series feature victory. V52 Darren Mollenoyux was a well-performed third, ahead of late entrant Matt Egel who will be mighty pleased he made the last minute decision to appear. Tatnell was fifth, collecting 180 valuable series points.

With one round to go at Warrnambool on January 1, the $10,000 Speedweek bonus is well and truly up for grabs. James McFadden (878 points) leads Steven Lines by just 25 points (853). Also in striking distance and ready to shoot for the loot are Luke Dillon (789 points), Matt Egel on 732 and Jason Johnson on 725.

After eight rounds of World Series Sprintcars James McFadden (1881 points) hangs onto a 200-point buffer over Jamie Veal on 1681. Brooke Tatnell is another 27 points back on 1654, with Daniel Harding on 1457 after an eighth place A-Main finish. The battle for fifth is the closest of all, with Andrew Wright on 989 and Jason Pryde 980.”

World Series opener rained out , Veal tops points

World Series Sprintcars opener rained out!

Murray Bridge Speedway hosted the opening round of the Championship round for 2016/17 on Saturday night. With threatening skies overhead and anticipation that they would remain rain free the 34 teams set about getting the best possible start to their campaigns. The track at Murray Bridge appeared to be a little wet early in the night as you can see from this picture of Steven Lines during engine start.The importance of scoring early point is even more critical with difficult weather around .With all the heat races in the books mother nature sent a warning ,never under estimate her. The rain belted down forcing the remainder of the night to be cancelled. Fasted in the time trial was Brad Kellar from fellow South Australian Ryan Jones.

The top 10 in points were: Jamie Veal was the top qualifier on 82 points ahead of Brooke Tatnell 75, James McFadden 75, Luke Dillon 75, Ryan Jones 75, Brad Keller 75, Matt Egel 75, Steven Lines 74, Robbie Farr 74 and Daniel Pestka 71.

Round two will see the Team heading up the motorways to Valvoline Raceway for next Saturday night clash with the Valvoline Raceway locals.

The 30^th running of World Series Sprintcars this weekend

World Series Sprintcars still strong after 30 years will open its 2016/7 Championship season on Saturday night at Murray Bridge Speedway in South Australia.The Speedway is looking good after recent storms and is ready to host some exciting races

The Premier Sprintcar series features 5 former Champions with 14 titles between them. Currently the nomination are up to 34 .With competing series the USCS also running events the pressure on numbers was to be expected..

Monte Motorsports this year has changed drivers and will chase the Championship with two times winner and former Australian Champion James McFadden. McFadden has had impressive start to his association with Milwaukee Power Tools/Monte Motorsports Team since taking the seat over Californian Kyle Hirst.

The nine times Champion Brooke Tatnell return with the Kirrke Team and will be looking for that 10^th Championship .After solid 5^th last week end at Warnambool Tatnell the US based Australian will carry the memory of team Principal Shane Krikke with him as he suits up for each round of the Championship .The W2 is looking sharp and fast.

Defending Champion Jamie Veal with another strong tour of the USA under his belt is going to be tough to beat and he battle for Championship honors between Veal, McFadden and lines and Tatnell is sure to be a highlight of the 30^th year.

South Australia might be the City of Churches but Saturday night it will be the City of Speedway .Murray Bridge Speedway will be the only place to be on Saturday night.
